The client is the largest automotive manufacturing business in the United Kingdom which produces premium all-terrain vehicles and premier luxury sports saloon vehicles. All the cars are engineered in the UK and the client has large ambitions for growth.
Build support engineer for Electrical Engineering. The role is primarily in troubleshooting issues during the engineering prototype builds to ensure the build progresses to schedule. The scope includes material supply for the build - planning material availability in line with the bill of materials; working with the logistics team and engineers to ensure required parts are available. The scope also includes technical problem solving, working with the manufacturing team and engineers to overcome problems in build and assisting in diagnosis of faults. All builds across a number of vehicle projects from 1st prototype mock ups through to assembly of off-tool parts to the intended manufacturing process are to be covered. The builds take place on several sites so flexibility in place of work is required.
Experience And Skills
3 key skills; Problem solving. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to study a problem, generate possible solutions, select the appropriate practical solution and follow it through. Ideally have used structured problem solving tools. Communication and negotiation skills. The candidate will have demonstrated confidence in communication and negotiation with others in order to gain support to achieve an objective. Experience of working under time pressure to tight deadlines is required. Flexibility. The candidate must demonstrate a willingness to adapt according to circumstances. A flexible approach to responsibilities is required in order to solve build issues by the quickest means.
