The client is the largest automotive manufacturing business in the United Kingdom which produces premium all-terrain vehicles and premier luxury sports saloon vehicles. All the cars are engineered in the UK and the client has large ambitions for growth.
"Clutch and Manual Transmission Design Engineer for Transmission and Driveline Systems. During the delivery phases of the program lifecycle the successful candidate will be required to support ; - Introduction of designs, applications and manufacturing in conjunction with suppliers - Responsibility for the supply of components and assemblies meeting JLR Process and Gateways - Communication of issues to management including 8D Reports, FMEA, AIMS, eFDVS, RMDV, Risks, etc - Communication with external departments to ensure robust delivery of components and assemblies as requested - Ownership of issues including resolution planning within the manual transmission system ownership - Working with the Lead Engineer to deliver JLR programmes on time and to a high quality "

3 key skills; "Understanding of major units within automotive driveline system Understanding of JLR Program Delivery principles" "Knowledge of Transmission Development including Gearboxes and Clutches Good understanding of engineering and problem solving principles." "Good level of MS Office skills essential. Good communication and presentation skills at all levels within the business Self starter - will be responsible for moving Programmes forward with minimal guidance."
Must have experience of working in a Design function, writing of test standards, control of test plans and planning, liaisoning with test and validation to determine DVP's and ensure testing is controlled and timed to meet programme deliverables.Minimum of Engineer Degree (or equivalent) or Chartered Engineer with a suitable Institute, educated with at least one subject in Applied Mathematics, Engineering or Programme Management.), similar experience based on years worked could also be taken as acceptable e.g. craft/technician course engineers with minimum 10 yrs experience in Transmissions Design/Development
Previous working experience in a Transmission and Driveline Engineering department would be a real advantageDegree level eduction in Engineering preffered but time served Transmissions with minimum of 5 yrs experience will also be taken into considerationExperience of JLR specific programme delivery tools such as GPDS, AIMS, eFDVS would be a real advantage
Based at JLR Gaydon site but will be required to work at Whitley site between May 2015 to Feb 2016
