Job Title: Base Engines Project Support Engineer Job Type: Contract (35 weeks, 40 hours per week) Salary: £21.95 per hour Location: Whitley Consultant: Alex Townsend Reference: 29284 The Organisation: The client is the largest automotive manufacturing business in the United Kingdom which produces premium all-terrain vehicles and premier luxury sports saloon vehicles. All the cars are engineered in the UK and the client has large ambitions for growth. Role: Base Engines Project Support Engineer > Acting as the Engine Programme representative in the parts review meetings with Material Planning, Engine Build, and Purchasing. > Working with the Engine Programme Manager to agree spare prototype parts stock for Engine DV phase. > Working with the Engine Build Schedulers to ensure dedicated spare parts schedules are raised on time and to budget. > Manage spare parts stock, inventory levels, and allocations within agreed budget. Implement system to ensure re-order trigger points protect the on-going Engine test activities. > Pro-actively support the Engine Build and DV Test Teams with allocation of spare parts in a timely manner through the use of Material Test Requests. > Manage offsite spares storage. > Engine Programme Team workshop and transport requests. Raise job cards for any engines/fabrication work that need work doing for programme team (FMS)

Experience And Skills

Experience Required: 3 key skills; Good project management skills are essential. Ability to lead the resolution issues within a project team environment and interface directly with the Powertrain and Vehicle programme teams and represent the Base Engine Department Computer literate in Google, PowerPoint, Excel and Microsoft Project. Strong skills in Excel desirable. Good, working level knowledge of powertrain/engine systems, PD processes and PCDS principles. Education Required: > Good, working level knowledge of powertrain/engine systems, PD processes and PCDS principles > Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, self-confidence and a 'passion for the product' are personal qualities needed to succeed in this role > Being self-motivated and able to deliver with minimum supervision > Working knowledge of key JLR company systems/processes/tools such as GPIRS, RPS, WERS, AIMs, etc. beneficial. > Happy to use own initiative to tackle problems and flexible in your approach to achieve the best programme results. Education Preferred: > Preferably educated to degree level. Other higher educational qualifications will be considered depending on other skills and experience offered. > The role may require regular inter-site travel therefore, it is expected that candidates will hold a valid UK Drivers licence.
