Job Title: Electrical Systems Engineer Job Type: Contract (18 weeks and 40 hours per week) Salary: Up to £29.65 per hour Location: Gaydon Consultant: Alex Townsend Reference: 27657 The Organisation: The client is the largest automotive manufacturing business in the United Kingdom which produces premium all-terrain vehicles and premier luxury sports saloon vehicles. All the cars are engineered in the UK and the client has large ambitions for growth. The Role: Lead systems engineer & team lead for NGI Japanese Navigation System development; ¿ Technically proficient & responsible for specifying and delivering technical solutions in line with industry/JLR requirements for Japanese navigation system applications. ¿ Ownership of Japan Navigation feature, including integration of VICS Traffic & Electronic Toll Collection Systems, from concept to delivery, including satisfying cross-functional dependencies across other JLR departments, and ensuring delivery of validated hardware & software (at a system level) into the manufacturing process. ¿ Defining and driving work streams within the Infotainment (internal & multiple supplier partner) teams in order to enable effective, efficient and pro-active team working in the delivery of next generation infotainment navigation solution according to programme needs. ¿ Technical & Project Management interface with multiple suppliers and internal Japanese nav team ensuring the delivery of the above systems to the milestones described, including technical issues resolution.

Experience And Skills

Skills Required: Highly motivated, driven & able to deliver to tight timescales. ¿ Knowledge of Automotive navigation systems preferred ¿ Experienced in automotive electronic hardware & software development & integration methodologies ¿ Strong project management skills & ability to manage multiple supplier partners effectively ¿ Creation & management of technical specifications, DVPs, DVMs etc. ¿ Strong analytical & problem solving skills to resolve complex hardware/software inter-related issues. ¿ Good communication skills (role will involve interfacing to external suppliers including off-shore resources as well as internally across various business functions, supporting project reviews & ability to report out status to senior management) Experience Required: Proven track record of development & delivery of automotive electical / elctronic modules / systems ¿ Experienced in Automotive IVI software & system design ¿ Working with a team of multi-disciplined engineers / supplier partners responsible for developing NGI navigation software architecture ¿ Managing the software development of IVI applications on a Linux based infotainment system ¿ Performing system requirements analysis and software design using NGI system design documents and protocol standards ¿ Working with the Software Integrator as required to resolve architectural and development issues. ¿ Working with the 3rd Party Suppliers as required to resolve architectural and development issues. Education Required: Education to degree level in a relevant technical subject required Additional Info: Role will require some overseas travel for business trips & in-market testing, primarily in Japan, Europe & India for relatively short durations (c.1-2weeks per trip). ¿ Driving of JLR vehicles likely in order to undertake some aspects of role thus valid driving licence is required
