Job Title: Graduate Project Engineer Job Type: Contract (35 weeks and 40 hours per week) Salary: Up to £21.95 per hour Location: Gaydon Consultant: Alex Townsend Reference: 26848 The Organisation: The client is the largest automotive manufacturing business in the United Kingdom which produces premium all-terrain vehicles and premier luxury sports saloon vehicles. All the cars are engineered in the UK and the client has large ambitions for growth. The Role: Competitive Intelligence Market Anaylst (Focus on Performance, Efficiency and Driveability) C02 reduction and improved fuel efficiency are two key goals that drive JLR's ambitious plans for the future. Identifying and delivering the improvements required is a key challenge faced by the Performance, Efficiency and Driveability (PED) team A high-performing market analyst/engineer, well versed in the premium automotive sector, is required to gather competitor intelligence related to fuel economy and develop credible visions of the future This role is focussed on using market intelligence, technology trends and legislative understanding to predict the competitive and compliance landscape for future JLR models with the aim of shaping the business strategy and providing early warning on threats and opportunities

Experience And Skills

Experience Required: 3 key skills; Experience in data processing, manipulation, graphical presentation, quantitative analysis with a willingness to develop these skills Some knowledge of Autmotive Vehicle Engineering Principles and an interest and awareness of the JLR competitive environment, particularly in relation to the Performance and Economy Attributes Capability to comprehend large amounts of data and translate into clear and precise direction Experience Preferred: Good experience of Powertrain systems Good understanding of transmission related component function/design Knowledge of OEM/major supplier project delivery processes would be desirable. Good problem solving techniques (ideally formal 5D, 8D of six sigma DMAIC process understanding) Experience in accelerated vehicle & component rig testing (including test preparation) Education Required: Project/Programme Management experience - Knowledge of Fuel Economy/CO2 improving principles - Automotive Attribute Experience - Powertrain system design/development understanding - Experience of environmental legislation - Demonstrable experience of building wide reaching networks across an organisation to facilitate information flow and decision making
