Lead Safety Engineer (DR043)
Lead safety engineer within the Driveline Controls and Automatic Transmissions teams. Part of a team of 40 engineers responsible for the development of user controls such as the gear shift module, the transmission mechatronics controller, controllers responsible for transferring the torque to the drive wheels. Diverse, dynamic and interesting working environment. The successful candidate will lead and direct the work of two other competent functional safety engineers. Candidates will likely have an existing lead role in embedded system safety developments.
Experience And Skills
Expert knowledge and proven application of the Automotive Functional Safety Standard ISO 26262 to automotive system development. Expert knowledge of V model and system engineering approach. Good PC/IT skills. Good communication skills
Practitioner knowledge and proven application of quality and robustness principles. Good working knowledge automotive safety regulations and standards
Minimum 4 years experience in an embedded system safety environment Proven experience of automotive Hazard Analysis & Risk Assessment. Automotive supplier management including hosting remote safety discussions and face-to-face meetings and workshops. Planning and delivering safety deliverables to support vehicle programme gateways Identification, authoring and management of system safety requirements. Functional and technical safety concept development. Application of inductive and deductive safety analysis techniques (e.g. FMEA, FTA, RBD, ETA, FMEDA). Safety case development.
Experience in at least three of the following: Systems level architectural design Electronic hardware design and analysis from architecture to component/part level for embedded, safety-related systems Architectural software design / embedded software design (incl. MISRA C) / model-based software development for safety related systems Engineering process development and practical implementation Process assessment schemes e.g. CMMI, ISO 15504 (SPICE) Experience of X-by wire developments.
Be capable of delivering a high standard of technical writing. Be a self-starter and able to manage and direct junior members of staff. Experience of coaching junior members of staff. Have well-developed analytical skills ¿ rigorous but pragmatic. Have good interpersonal skills ¿ a consensus-builder not confrontational. Corporate membership of an engineering institution including Chartered Engineer qualification Be willing to travel and work flexibly. The job is likely to involve periods of 1 week at a time spent overseas approximately 3 or 4 times per year. Flexible working with travel to JLR product development locations required
