Base Engine Development Engineer (DR027)

Description

This role is for a base engine development engineer to work on the AJ200 (Ingenium) diesel engine family programme. They will be part of the validation team who are responsible for mechanical development and durability sign off as part of the base engine design validation plan (DVP). The development engineer will lead specific development / durability activities, running engine test activity and taking ownership of the test from engine build through to testing, data analysis, reporting, fault diagnosis and issue resolution. They will feed results back to the relevant customers ensuring timely delivery and proactive fault resolution. They will also support planning activity for future programmes and test methodology development as part of a drive for continuous improvement and process development within JLR.

Experience And Skills

Skills Required: The candidate will require good experience of engine testing combined with a strong working knowledge of engines and their associated systems. They need to be self driven, able to work alone or as part of a team, and have an understanding of Product Development processes, design principles, instrumentation and test facilities. 1) Plan and conduct engine durability and functional tests to support overall development and program requirements 2) Maintain data quality and test result integrity and repeatability 3) Plan, manage and deliver various tests to a tight time scales. 4) Demonstrate skils in test & development, with experience of combustion, performance, economy, durability of engines. 5) Demonstrate ability to analyse data & formally present & report on the outcome of tests. 6) Demonstrate ability to confidently present to senior management & others. 7) A reasonable flexible approach to work beyond normal hours and to support others as required. 8) Strong MS Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Project). Working knowledge of IC engine components and systems. Ability to prioritise workload and actively solve issues individually or as part of a cross-functional team. High levels of personal organisation is essential. Must have the ability to confidently represent the team in wider departmental forums. Strong inter-personal (both written and verbal) communication skills essential Highly self-motivated and able to act on initiative Experience Required: Experience within engine product development or design environment. Education Required: Previous experience of problem solving and quality tools would be beneficial. ¿ Previous experience of engine development & testing. ¿ Service / dealer /supplier or relevant experience would also be desirable Education Preferred: Driving licence

£25.19 Per Hour Limited Company Rates Negotiable
