Emissions Measurement Analyst (DR022)
Job Title: Emissions Measurement Analyst Every moment in Powertrain Emission Testing is one of high expectations and exciting challenges. We¿re generating large amounts of emission data which supports the development of groundbreaking technology. The facility runs 24hrs/day,75 days per week; the team works with pride and passion to ensure that the performance of the facility meet current and future demand. Our facility caters to a wide range of Diesel, Petrol, and Hybrid calibration engineers. You will gain detailed understanding of the emissions measurement process and interface with these stakeholders to adapt test solutions to engineering demands in each of these fields. Drawing from your experience in measurement science, you will: Investigate detector level detail of emissions analysis equipment Drive data analysis work streams and develop R&D programs Generate an evidence based improvement plan for our facility¿s productive capability Provide technical guidance on calculation and measurement techniques Work closely with engine calibration groups to influence engineering decisions Use a quantitative understanding of our facility¿s measurement sensitivity to deliver data driven conclusions against engineering targets ultimately forming a key part of the final specification for vehicle program derivatives.

With a wide variety of testing needs, you will draw upon your technical communication skills to liaise with various engineering groups to ensure that diverse requirements are met by our facility. You will guide a team in identifying process and technology improvements that will positively contribute to the facility¿s performance. Qualified to a minimum of degree level in a science, engineering or mathematical discipline, you will bring to the team a comprehensive knowledge of experimental data analysis. Your strong software skills will enable you to deliver tools which will autonomously assess and report on data quality metrics and KPIs. Ideally you¿ll be a Six Sigma trained with proven experience of leading a team through the implementation of lean tools and processes." "Data analysis skills, including hypothesis testing, uncertainty analysis, and process variation Graphical data presentation Technical / theoretical understanding of physical measurement equipment Ability to deliver project coordination, planning, and control Ability to deliver written reports and technical presentations Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and VBA extensions Proficient in the use and application of a programming/scripting language, such as C/C++, python, Java, or similar. An understanding of safe working practices in the associated work place environments. Technical ability to define and deliver software and hardware interface projects to a specification. Technical/Theoretical understanding of Emission Test facility and requirements. Data Analysis skills, including ability to define and measure symptoms and analyse information. Ability to make use of data gathered to define solution and implement process improvement. Confidence to take ownership, prioritise and follow up on short term decisions.
Practitioner knowledge and proven application of quality and robustness principles. Good working knowledge automotive safety regulations and standards
Desirable: An understanding of internal combustion engines, transmission, driveline, emission systems and subsystems Understanding of data acquisition and control systems Understanding of regulatory and legislative requirements for emissions testing and vehicle type approval Strong command of statistics and error propagation Proficient in the use of automotive analysis tools such as INCA, Concerto, etc. An understanding of test quality data and analysis, preparation of calibration documentation in support of Certification activities An understanding of the regulatory and legislative requirements of external agencies and organisations. Ability to deliver and update a web-site using Share Point or similar application. An understanding of human behaviour based Model for successful implementation of Lean enterprise in industry. Practical ability to deliver process maps and value stream maps.
Experience executing experimental test plans Experience acquiring and analysing large datasets against a hypothesis Experience with data acquisition hardware and/or software Experience developing custom analysis tools via suitable programming/scripting interfaces Full UK driving license with less than 6 penalty points, no disqualifications, 2 years accident free record. Experience designing test experiments against a hypothesis (Design for Six Sigma, Design of Experiments, or similar) Measurement uncertainty and uncertainty budget calculation. Experience performing Root Cause Analysis, Gauge R&R, variance analysis, or similar. Experience with recognized quality tools and processes, such as: Six Sigma, FMEA, 8D, Lean, Fault Tree Analysis, Ishikawa Diagrams, etc
